What’s this ‘AC’ all about?
Benzac AC removes excess oil and hydrates your skin. It does this by using advanced Acrylates Copolymer (AC)/ glycerin complex.
Sounds all sciency and stuff we know, but basically Acrylates Copolymers are tiny highly porous beads. These beads are so porous that they can absorb up to four times their own weight in fluid.
Acrylates Copolymer beads soak up certain liquids quickly and easily, but they are selective about what they can absorb. They rapidly absorb oils, however, they can’t absorb water, as water has a very high surface tension.
The other ingredient that works with AC, is glycerin. Glycerin lubricates the skin, making it smooth and soft. So whilst the Acrylates Copolymers (AC) absorb the excess oil that can carry bacteria, the glycerin helps hydrate the skin.
So what does this mean for acne?
When Acrylates Copolymer/glycerin complex is applied to the face, the beads come in contact with lipids, such as sebum, that have a high affinity for them. Sebum, because of its attraction to the beads, forces the glycerin out of the beads and onto the skin surface. The AC beads then absorb the sebum.
Benzac Ac 2.5% Gel 20 gm
Benzac Ac 2.5% Gel 20 gm belongs to the class of medication called antibacterial agents primarily used to treat bacterial skin infections like acne (pimples). Benzac Ac 2.5% Gel 20 gm is an organic compound with an irritant, keratolytic (remove warts, calluses), comedolytic (inhibits the formation of blemishes), and anti-inflammatory activity. Acne is a skin condition that occurs when the hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells.
Benzac Ac 2.5% Gel 20 gm contains ‘Benzoyl Peroxide’ that kills bacteria, reduces inflammation and unplugs blocked pores. Benzac Ac 2.5% Gel 20 gm decomposes to release oxygen when applied to the skin. This oxygen acts as a bactericidal agent and kills Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria that causes acne. Benzac Ac 2.5% Gel 20 gm increases the turnover rate of epithelial cells (cells that line the surface of the skin), eventually helping in peeling the skin and treating comedones (skin-coloured, small bumps due to acne). Benzac Ac 2.5% Gel 20 gm also has a mild drying effect that allows excess oils and dirt to be washed away from the skin.
Benzac Ac 2.5% Gel 20 gm is for external use only. Avoid contact with eyes, eyelids, lips, mouth and nose. If the medicine comes in contact with any of these areas, rinse with water immediately. Do not use Benzac Ac 2.5% Gel 20 gm on sunburned, windburned, dry, or irritated skin. Common side effects of Benzac Ac 2.5% Gel 20 gm include dry skin, erythema (skin redness), burning sensation, itching, skin irritation, swelling, blistering, crusting, and skin rash. If any of the side effects persist or worsen, please consult a doctor.
Let your doctor know if you use any prescription and non-prescription medications, including vitamins, before starting Benzac Ac 2.5% Gel 20 gm.
