Colorful homage to Sicily: Stool collection by Sara Ricciardi.

Echo of tradition
The Sicilian town of Caltagirone is famous for its ceramic craft in general and for a staircase connecting two parts of the town in particular. Its 142 steps are covered frontally with intricately hand-painted ceramics and act as a gigantic decorative work of art as you climb. Designer Sara Ricciardi was inspired by the steps and other ceramic decorations of the city to create a series of stools. Five different volumes were made on the lathe and then painted by Ricciardi before the second firing. During the development phase, which she spent in the ceramic studio of Caltagirone-born artist Nicolò Morales, she made several excursions around the island. She transformed her impressions of Etna, church architecture or nature into a graphic and colorful decor. The historical and local references are also evident in the name of the series: Resti is the Italian word for remains - and is also considered an invitation to stay. In this project, they bring the past and tradition to life in a contemporary way. tp
